Houston Croquet Association Selected

2021 Croquet Club of the Year by the USCA

The Houston Croquet Association was recently recognized as the prestigious USCA Club Of The Year for 2021.

2021 started with our club sending 20 of our members to participate in the USCA National Club Doubles tournament at the National Headquarters in West Palm Beach. We had more participants than any club outside of Florida. Our attendance created more enthusuiatum than this tournament had ever had before. To top it off our very own John Brown and Bob Pulitzer won the Championship Flight knocking off the number one and number two seeds in the process!

The year included the completion of our transition of the moving of our home courts in association with the Houston Astros Foundation. With our new higher profile location in the park, we wanted to take it a step further and raised funds to add an eight hundred square foot pavilion to complement the new lawns. These are the only public croquet lawns in Texas and one of the top public venues in the country!

We were also recognized by the City of Houston for our twenty five years of working with the Parks and Recreation Department and being an integral part of bringing and sustaining Croquet in Houston.  A Proclamation was issued by the City naming October19, 2021, Houston Croquet Association Day! Never before has a club received such an honor.

With all the enthusiasm of the new courts and beautiful new venue the Club also welcomed 37 new members joining our local club and the National organization.

2021 was a very good year that all of our members should be very proud of.
